In Trinity Blood Season 1 Episode 1 "Flight Night," we are introduced to a post-apocalyptic world where humanity and vampires coexist. The episode begins with a battle between the Vatican and the New Human Empire, two factions fighting for power and control over what remains of the world. During the battle, we are introduced to Sister Esther Blanchett, a member of the Vatican's special operations group, "AX."
As the battle rages on, Esther is tasked with protecting Cardinal Caterina Sforza, the leader of the AX, who possesses a powerful artifact called the "Gloria." The two become separated from the rest of their team and are forced to flee on an airship called the "Goliath."
While on the airship, Esther meets Father Abel Nightroad, a priest and member of the AX who is also a vampire. Abel is known to be particularly powerful and has a reputation for being somewhat eccentric. Esther is initially wary of him because of his vampire status, but learns to trust him when he helps her fight off an attack by the New Human Empire.
As they continue on their journey, the group comes under attack again, this time by a group of vampires who are also after the Gloria. Abel reveals that he is a Crusnik, a species of vampire that feeds off the blood of other vampires. He uses his abilities to fight off the attackers and save the group.
Eventually, Esther and Abel reach their destination, Albion, a city protected by the AX but overrun with vampires. They meet with a member of the royal family, a young girl named Queen Esther. Despite her young age, Queen Esther is intelligent and capable, and she desires peace between the Vatican and the New Human Empire.
The episode ends with an ominous warning from another member of the AX, Cardinal Francesco di Medici. He warns that the fight between the Vatican and the New Human Empire is only a small part of a larger conflict, and that things will only get worse from here.
Overall, "Flight Night" sets the stage for an action-packed series that delves into themes of power, betrayal, and loyalty. The characters are complex and interesting, and the post-apocalyptic world they inhabit is both fascinating and terrifying. The episode also does a good job of setting up the central conflict, while leaving plenty of room for future plot developments.
