Ep 5. Episode 5

The episode starts with Jared's (the lead character) friend, Wade, discussing his family problems with him. The mood is somber, as Wade finds out that his beloved father has left the family, leaving them with a severe financial crisis. Jared tries to console him, not knowing what he could do to help his friend.

Later, Jared meets his mother Maggie, who is now on good terms with Jared's grandfather, and he proposes that they should take some time off together. Maggie disagrees, but it is evident that she is still struggling to come to terms with their past, which has been marred by drug addiction. Meanwhile, Officer Nick is shown interrogating another suspect in the home invasion case that Jared and his friends were involved in.

In the next scene, Jared is seen meeting with his dealer Crash, who asks him to return the remaining drugs he had given him before. It is made clear that Crash wants Jared to do him a favor in return for his investment. They make a deal, where Jared has to get some pills for Crash, and in return, he will return the drugs he had taken from him.

Later, Jared is seen trying to make amends with his teacher, Mr. Dupuis, who he had a run-in with in the previous episode. He apologizes for his behavior and tries to explain his reasons, but Mr. Dupuis is unresponsive and walks away. It shows not everyone is willing to hear Jared out.

As the episode progresses, it becomes clear that Jared has more on his plate than he can handle. He is struggling with his mother's addiction, his friend's family problems, and his own addiction. In a heart-breaking sequence, he visits his father's grave and tries to find some solace.

Amidst all this, the episode takes a supernatural turn when Jared sees a vision of his father, who seems to be asking him to do something. The eerie sequence hints at the supernatural elements that have been introduced in earlier episodes, and it is clear that the show is moving towards a more mystical territory.

Overall, Episode 5 of Trickster does an excellent job of setting up the plot for the rest of the season while also providing some much-needed character development for Jared. The supernatural elements are just enough to keep the audience guessing while not overwhelming the narrative. With an excellent story and strong performances, the episode is a must-watch for fans of the show.
