The Other Man is the third episode of the first season of Trial & Error, a mockumentary-style sitcom that follows novice lawyer and big city boy Josh Segal as he defends an eccentric professor, Larry Henderson, who is accused of murdering his wife.

In this episode, Josh and his legal team, which consists of the quirky investigator Dwayne Reed, and the eager-to-please secretary Anne Flatch, are still adjusting to life in a small town in South Carolina and the idiosyncrasies of their client's case. The episode kicks off with the team trying to figure out the best way to introduce evidence that they believe will be crucial in proving their client's innocence.

However, The Other Man is not just about the case. The show also focuses on the colorful characters in East Peck, where the trial takes place. This episode sees the introduction of a new character, Jesse Ray Beaumont, Larry's young assistant and former student, who also happens to be in love with Larry's wife. When Jesse finds out that Larry's wife was possibly having an affair, he becomes a key witness in the trial, and Josh must figure out how to use his testimony to help Larry's case.

Throughout the episode, Josh tries to uncover more information about the affair, which leads him to interact with some of East Peck's more eccentric residents. There's the mayor, who is constantly reminding everyone that he was Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s high school locker neighbor, and Carol Anne Keane, who has a collection of both birdhouses and husbands. As Josh interviews these witnesses, it becomes clear that East Peck is a town full of secrets and that everyone has something to hide.

The show's humor is both absurd and witty, and the cast delivers their lines with impeccable timing. John Lithgow, who plays Larry Henderson, brings a perfect mix of charm and ambiguity to his character, making the viewer unsure whether he is innocent or guilty. Nicholas D'Agosto, who stars as Josh Segal, is a straight-laced and slightly awkward presence, which makes him the perfect foil for the eccentric characters around him.

In addition to the humor, Trial & Error's strength lies in its ability to keep the viewer guessing. The show is full of twists and turns, and every episode manages to surprise. The Other Man is no exception, and the final moments of the episode leave the viewer wondering what exactly is going on in East Peck.

Overall, The Other Man is a hilarious and entertaining episode of Trial & Error. It perfectly captures the show's unique blend of humor, mystery, and small-town quirkiness. Season 1 of Trial & Error is a must-watch for anyone who loves comedy with a side of murder.
