Ep 3. Wherever I Lose My Hat

Travels by Narrowboat season 5 episode 3, Wherever I Lose My Hat, follows the journey of a couple, Steve and Magda, as they explore various towns and villages along the canals of England. In this episode, they head out to explore the picturesque town of Uppingham.

The episode starts off with Steve and Magda setting off from their mooring spot and making their way towards Uppingham. Along the way, they pass through some breathtakingly beautiful scenery, with colorful flowers lining the canal banks and lush greenery all around them. Steve, who is an avid photographer, takes in the sights and captures some stunning photographs.

On reaching Uppingham, Steve and Magda moor the boat and head out to explore the town. Uppingham is a quaint little town with cobbled streets and charming buildings that date back to the 16th century. Steve and Magda take a stroll around the town and visit the local market, which is full of vendors selling fresh produce and local crafts.

As they wander around the market, Magda spots a beautiful hat that catches her eye. She tries it on and it looks perfect on her. Steve, impressed with the hat, decides to buy it for Magda. As they make their way back to the boat, Steve and Magda stop by a local pub for a refreshing pint of beer.

The next day, Steve and Magda set off on their narrowboat again, this time heading towards Oakham. Along the way, they stop at a village called Stoke Dry, which is famous for its beautiful church that dates back to the 13th century. Magda, who is a history buff, is excited to explore the church and learn more about its history.

The church is a stunning example of medieval architecture, with intricate carvings and stained glass windows. Magda spends some time exploring the church while Steve takes some more photographs. They then head back to the boat and continue their journey towards Oakham.

On reaching Oakham, Steve and Magda moor their boat and head out to explore the town. Oakham is famous for its magnificent castle, which is now the campus of Oakham School. Steve and Magda take a tour of the castle and learn about its fascinating history.

After the tour, they head out to explore the town some more and stop by a local café for a delicious cup of coffee. As they sit outside the café, enjoying their coffee, Magda realizes that she has lost the hat that Steve bought for her in Uppingham. She is devastated, as the hat had become very special to her.

Steve decides to try and find the hat, and they retrace their steps around the town. Finally, they stop by a little antique shop where the owner recognizes the hat and tells them that a lady had just bought it from her. Steve and Magda are disappointed, but they continue their exploration of Oakham, making the most of their visit.

The episode ends with Steve and Magda heading back to their narrowboat, tired but happy after a day filled with adventure and exploration. They set off towards their next destination, eager to see what the canals of England have in store for them.
