Train 48 was a Canadian television show that aired from 2003 to 2005, and was produced by the independent production company, Studio 2É, in association with CBC Television. The show followed the lives of passengers commuting on a train that traveled from downtown Toronto to the suburbs. Each episode focused on a different group of travelers and their experiences and interactions during their commute.

The show was unique in that it was entirely improvised, with the actors relying on their own instincts and creativity to develop their characters and the storylines. The ensemble cast included some of Canada's finest improvisational actors, including Raoul Bhaneja, Lisa Merchant, and Joe Dinicol, among others.

Raoul Bhaneja played the role of Rajiv, a hip and confident young man who was always on the lookout for new experiences and adventures. Lisa Merchant played the role of Rachel, a sensitive and emotionally aware therapist who enjoyed observing the behavior of her fellow passengers. Joe Dinicol played the role of Jesse, a mischievous and impulsive teenage boy who had a knack for getting into trouble.

Throughout the show's two-year run, viewers were treated to a wide range of stories and characters, each with their own unique quirks and personalities. Some of the more memorable episodes included a group of seniors who formed a band and played music on the train, a young couple who fell in love during their commute, and a group of activists who staged a protest on the train.

For fans of improvisational comedy, Train 48 was a must-watch show. The actors' quick wit and ability to think on their feet was truly remarkable and often led to unexpected and hilarious moments. Additionally, the show's format allowed for a great deal of flexibility, as the actors were able to incorporate current events and topical issues into their performances.

Train 48 also showcased the diversity of the city of Toronto, as the show featured characters from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and professions. This helped to create a rich tapestry of stories and experiences that resonated with viewers from all walks of life.

Despite its popularity and critical acclaim, Train 48 was canceled after just two seasons due to budget cuts at the CBC. However, the show remains a cult favorite among fans of Canadian television and improvisational comedy.

In conclusion, Train 48 was a groundbreaking and innovative show that brought improvisational comedy to a wider audience. Its talented cast, diverse characters, and unique format made for an incredibly entertaining and engaging viewing experience. Though it was short-lived, it left a lasting impression on Canadian television and remains a beloved cult classic to this day.
