In "Children Of the Night," the fifth episode of Touched by an Angel's fourth season, Monica (Roma Downey) and Tess (Della Reese) are dispatched to the seedy streets of Los Angeles to help a young runaway named Julie (guest star Thora Birch). Julie had left home after feeling neglected by her parents, and is now living on the streets with her boyfriend, Tommy (guest star Ryan Bollman).
As the angels watch over Julie and Tommy, they discover that the teenagers are part of a larger group of runaways who call themselves "The Children of the Night." These young people, many of whom have been abused or neglected by their families, band together to find safety and support on the streets.
Monica and Tess work tirelessly to help Julie and the other children, but they face numerous challenges along the way. They must contend with a violent gang that preys on the runaways, as well as a corrupt police officer who sees the kids as easy targets for exploitation.
Despite the dangers, Monica and Tess remain committed to helping Julie and the other children find a better life. They work to connect the kids with resources and support systems that can help them get off the streets and back on track.
As always, the episode is heartwarming and uplifting, as the angels' compassion and determination help these vulnerable young people realize that they are not alone, and that there is hope for a brighter future.
