At the beginning of episode 5 of Top Of The Lake season 2, Detective Robin Griffin continues to unravel the mystery of the Pussycat rapist, as well as a new case involving a missing girl named Mary. Mary's mother seems resigned to her daughter's fate, and the case takes an unexpected turn when Robin discovers a link between Mary and the brothel owned by Pussycat. Meanwhile, Robin's relationship with Mary's stepfather Alexander grows more tense as he becomes increasingly aggressive towards her.
As Robin delves deeper into the case, she begins to question her own instincts and whether she can rely on her colleagues. She also comes face to face with Pussycat, who seems to have a sick fascination with Robin and her investigation.
At the same time, Robin is struggling to come to terms with her own trauma and the events from her past that still haunt her. She seeks solace in her burgeoning relationship with Miranda, but even that is complicated as Miranda must confront her own demons.
As tensions rise and the case becomes more intense, Robin's world begins to unravel. Her mental and emotional state deteriorate, and she finds herself in situations that are increasingly dangerous. Amidst the chaos, Robin must somehow find the strength to fight for justice and face her own demons head on.
