In this episode of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May embark on a journey to Australia to compete in a Motoring Ashes challenge against their Australian counterparts.
The challenge starts off with the presenters racing around a track in Sydney, testing out some of Australia's most iconic cars. After the race, they are officially welcomed by the Australian Top Gear team, who reveal their challenge: the presenters must drive a ute (a type of pickup truck) across the outback to the northernmost point of Australia.
The teams are allowed to customize their utes before the journey, resulting in some hilarious modifications from the Top Gear presenters, such as a "jungle-proof" roof and a built-in barbecue. Along the way, they encounter various obstacles such as rough terrain, water crossings, and even a herd of wild camels.
Throughout the challenge, there are also various competitions between the teams, such as a drag race and a game of car soccer. The competition comes down to a final race to the northernmost point, with both teams pushing their utes to the limit.
Aside from the Motoring Ashes challenge, there are also a few other segments in this episode. In one segment, Richard Hammond drives the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, showing off its incredible speed and handling. Another segment features a review of the new Volkswagen Touareg, as well as a comparison with its counterpart from Porsche, the Cayenne.
Overall, this episode of Top Gear is full of adventure, humor, and impressive cars. The Motoring Ashes challenge is a unique and entertaining competition that showcases the spirit of both the British and Australian Top Gear teams.
