Red Hood picks up where the premiere episode of Titans season three left off, with Dick Grayson and the team still reeling from the shocking death that occurred. This sets the stage for an emotionally charged and action-packed installment that sees the arrival of a new villain with a significant connection to the team.
As the title suggests, Red Hood centers around the titular character's introduction to the Titans universe. Fans of the comics will recognize Red Hood as the alias used by Jason Todd, the second Robin who was famously killed by the Joker. However, it quickly becomes apparent that the TV version of the character may differ somewhat from the source material.
This episode explores Jason's motivations for adopting the Red Hood persona, and the complex dynamics that arise between him and the rest of the Titans. As always, there is a lot of character development and relationships to unpack, with characters such as Tim Drake, Barbara Gordon, and Blackfire all getting moments to shine. However, the main focus remains on Dick's efforts to stop Red Hood from wreaking havoc on Gotham City.
One of the episode's standout sequences is a breathtaking rooftop chase scene that showcases the Titans' physical abilities and teamwork, as well as providing glimpses of Gotham's iconic landmarks. Fans of the Dark Knight will be pleased to know that Bruce Wayne himself also makes an appearance, albeit in a limited capacity.
Overall, Red Hood serves as an excellent follow-up to the season premiere, setting up intriguing plotlines and adding a compelling new character to the mix. The episode is a promising sign for what's to come in what looks to be the Titans' most ambitious and explosive season yet.
