In Tiny Toon Adventures season 1 episode 3, titled "The Wheel O' Comedy," the young cartoon characters attend Acme Looniversity to study their craft and become professional cartoon characters. The episode begins with Babs and Buster Bunny, two of the main characters, arguing about who's funnier. They challenge each other to a comedy face-off by spinning a wheel that is divided into different categories such as "puns," "physical humor," and "impressions."
Once the wheel lands on a category, Babs and Buster must each come up with a joke or sketch that fits that category. The first category the wheel lands on is physical humor. Buster performs a skit where he portrays a clumsy waiter who causes chaos in a fancy restaurant. Babs follows up with a sketch where she sings a song while doing various slapstick stunts.
The next category on the wheel is impressions. Buster does a spot-on impression of Arnold Schwarzenegger, mimicking his accent and action movie lines. Babs struggles with her impression of W.C. Fields and ends up copying his trademark nose-wrinkling gesture for the entire routine.
The final category is puns. Buster delivers a pun-filled stand-up routine incorporating phrases such as "egg-citing" and "you crack me up." Babs takes a different approach and does a pun-filled magic act where she pulls various objects out of a hat, each one prompting a different pun.
After the competition ends with no clear winner, the episode transitions to the next day at Acme Looniversity. Babs and Buster are encouraged to take the show on the road and perform their comedy skits outside of the classroom. They decide to perform at a local restaurant but quickly realize that their jokes that worked in the classroom don't translate well in the real world.
The duo tries to tailor their routines to the audience in the restaurant but fail to get any laughs. Meanwhile, a group of villainous cartoon characters known as Comedy Terrorists infiltrate the restaurant with the intention of bombing the place with explosive snowballs.
Babs and Buster unwittingly end up thwarting the terrorists' plan with their failed comedy skits as the audience mistakes the snowballs for part of their act and throws them back at the terrorists. Ultimately, the villains are defeated, and Babs and Buster realize that their failed routines served a greater purpose in saving the restaurant.
The episode concludes with Babs and Buster acknowledging that comedy isn't just about getting laughs but also about bringing joy and laughter to others in need. The characters also learn the importance of adapting their routines to suit their audience and not just relying on what works in a classroom setting.
Overall, "The Wheel O' Comedy" highlights the importance of comedy as a tool for bringing happiness and laughter to others. The episode also emphasizes the value of versatility and adaptability in a successful comedy career.
