In the Tiny House Nation season 3 episode 5 titled "480 Sq. Ft. The Gothic Castle House," hosts John and Zack help a family of four create their dream home in a compact and unique space inspired by Gothic architecture.
The family, consisting of parents Jason and Emily and their two children, are in need of a home that fits their lifestyle and budget. They have been living in a traditional home, but want to downsize to a tiny house to save money and simplify their lives. Emily is an artist, so they need a space that will allow her to work and create art, while Jason wants enough room for his guitar collection and a home office.
The hosts bring in builder Dave Brodt to help create the family's dream tiny home. The design is inspired by Gothic castles, complete with a turret tower and arched windows. The house is 480 square feet, which is small but perfect for the family's needs.
As the build progresses, the family faces some challenges. Emily struggles with letting go of some of her belongings to fit into the tiny space, and the family begins to feel cramped as they live in a small cabin during construction. But the hosts and builder work together to create a functional and beautiful home that meets all of the family's needs.
The finished tiny house is stunning, with high ceilings, custom stained glass windows, and a unique stone fireplace. The turret tower houses Emily's art studio, complete with a skylight for plenty of natural light. The children's bedroom is located in the loft area, accessible by a ladder or slide. The parents have their own private bedroom on the main floor, and Jason's guitar collection is displayed on custom shelving in the living room.
Throughout the episode, the hosts discuss the benefits of tiny living, including the financial benefits of downsizing and living with less stuff, as well as the environmental benefits of using less energy and resources. The family is thrilled with their new home and excited to start their life in their unique and practical tiny house.
