He tells them that long ago, all animals had long noses like horses, but one day, a terrible drought swept across the land and the animals were unable to reach the water from the deep wells. Elephant, being the bravest and strongest of them all, came up with a plan. He stretched his nose until it reached the water and brought it to the other animals, saving them from thirst. However, his nose remained stretched, turning into the trunk we see today.

The animals are amazed by Owl's story and feel silly for doubting Elephant. They apologize and thank him for saving them from the drought. As they leave, they realize that each animal is unique and has its own special abilities that contribute to the land they live in.
