Tinga Tinga Tales is a children's animated series that tells African folk tales through beautiful, colorful and engaging animation. The show takes kids on a journey through the African plains and introduces them to various animals and creatures while teaching them valuable life lessons. In season 1 episode 13, entitled "Why Hippo Has No Hair," the viewers are taken on an adventure with Hippo, who becomes increasingly envious of the other animals' beautiful coats.

The episode opens with Hippo expressing his frustration at not having any fur, unlike other animals in Tinga Tinga. He is bothered by the fact that he cannot participate in the annual "Perfect Coat Competition," where animals are judged based on the beauty of their coats. The other animals try to console him, but Hippo is not comforted. The wise old Tortoise overheard Hippo's worry and approached him, offering to tell him a story.

The story takes us back to the time when the animals of Tinga Tinga had fur, but Hippo was the only one without it. Hippo was not happy and asked for help from the other animals. Lion arrogantly informed Hippo that he was the most beautiful animal in Tinga Tinga because he had a perfect crown, while Giraffe and Buffalo teased him about his lack of fur. Hippo went to see the creator, who agreed to give him fur. However, he specified that Hippo must only wear it during the day.

Hippo was ecstatic at the new addition to his body, but he soon discovered that his new coat was causing him more harm than good. His coat made him hot and itchy, and he could not swim as well as he used to - something he was very proud of. The other animals were also very envious of his new fur coat, which led to a lot of resentment and jealousy. Hippo eventually decided to get rid of his coat, which leads to the moral of the story - sometimes, it's better to be content with what you have instead of being envious of what others possess.

The moral of the story is not lost on Hippo, and he decides to participate in the Perfect Coat Competition without a coat. The other animals tried to make fun of him, but he didn't let them get to him. He tells them that he is happy with his unique appearance, and that he doesn't need a coat to be beautiful. This inspires the other animals, who realize that being unique is something that should be celebrated.

Overall, "Why Hippo Has No Hair" is a great episode for kids to learn about accepting themselves and embracing their uniqueness, something that is especially important in today's world. The animation, music, and characters are all well-done and very engaging, making this episode a fantastic educational and entertaining watch.
