International Rescue's most versatile vehicle and her pilot are sent on a mission to space, to rendezvous with the Clarkor Probe, which is on a distress mission. The probe has been hit by a meteor and their communication systems were damaged. When the Tracys pick up the signal, they must hurry to try and save the probe, but their job is far more complicated than they expected.

Edge of Impact, the sixteenth episode of the first season of the Thunderbirds series, is a thrilling space mission filled with danger and suspense. The Thunderbird crafts are always being put to the test, and this episode is no exception. The action kicks off when the Clarkor space probe is hit by a meteor, putting the mission in jeopardy. The Thunderbirds must race against time to attempt to save the probe and its valuable data.

As the episode begins, Scott Tracy and his fellow Tracy brothers, along with the other members of International Rescue, are on standby, waiting to hear about any incidents that may require their assistance. Meanwhile, Jeff Tracy has activated Thunderbird 3 and its pilot, Alan Tracy, to get into space and render help to the Clarkor probe.

As Thunderbird 3 prepares to launch, Alan tries to contact the probe, but the Clarkor's antennae have been damaged and are unable to pick up the signal. Alan Tracy's mission is imperative as the probe has vital information that needs to be retrieved. But as he approaches the probe, the Thunderbird nearly gets hit by a meteor. A sudden impact rips through the craft, causing it to spin out of control. Alan is left with no choice but to eject himself, setting off a chain of events that makes the situation extremely dangerous.

As a result of the ejection, Thunderbird 3 goes spinning out of control as well, headed towards the Clarkor Probe. Meanwhile, on Earth, Jeff Tracy dispatches a team to locate Alan Tracy and bring him home.

International Rescue is soon faced with an even greater danger as an asteroid field threatens to wipe out both the Clarkor probe and Thunderbird 3. While the Thunderbirds have been built to withstand the extreme conditions of space, the asteroid field presents a challenge far beyond mere space debris. In order to avoid collision, Alan Tracy must navigate through the asteroid field and reach the Clarkor probe before the entire mission is destroyed.

Edge of Impact is a non-stop action episode, filled with twists and turns. It showcases the full spectrum of skill sets required of the Thunderbirds pilots, along with International Rescue's unwavering commitment to saving lives. In a desperate attempt to save the probe and its data, and with his own life in the balance, Alan comes face-to-face with some of the most dangerous challenges in the known universe.

Edge of Impact incorporates some of the most spectacular effects ever seen on television up to this point. The stunning visuals in this episode are awe-inspiring, adding a level of excitement to the already-vibrant storyline. The Thunderbird ships are put on full display as we see the agility and maneuverability of Thunderbird 3 being tested in the vacuum of space.

In addition to the non-stop action, Edge of Impact also explores the personal lives of the characters. The episode provides an in-depth look into the strained relationship between Jeff Tracy and his son Alan, as Jeff confronts his son with the reality of the dangers they face on a daily basis. The episode takes the time to slow things down and provide a little more context to the series' overall narrative.

The Thunderbirds series is a classic of science fiction, and Edge of Impact is undoubtedly one of the standout episodes in the show's run. Combining stunning visuals, a suspenseful storyline, and a bit of introspection, the episode is a thrilling ride that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats. It's one of the most action-packed episodes from the series, and even after all these years and numerous viewings, it still has the power to make an impact on audiences today.
