Jack, Janet, and Terri are enjoying their new apartment when Jack meets a girl named Joanne at the Regal Beagle. They hit it off and Jack invites her over to the apartment for dinner. Terri and Janet are excited to meet Joanne, but their excitement quickly turns to concern when Joanne tells them she is an alcoholic and the dinner quickly turns into an intervention.
Joanne is initially resistant to their efforts to help, but they eventually convince her to seek help and she agrees to check into a rehabilitation center. As they say goodbye to Joanne, they all feel good about the progress they've made in helping her, but Jack is skeptical about the severity of Joanne's problem.
He starts to investigate and soon discovers that Joanne is not an alcoholic at all, but rather a sorority sister of Terri's who came to town to visit. Terri had lied to Jack about Joanne's drinking problem in an effort to keep Jack from dating her.
Feeling betrayed, Jack confronts Terri and Janet and they admit to their deception. Furious, Jack decides to get revenge by telling Terri's boss that she is planning to quit her job, which could potentially ruin her career.
Meanwhile, Chrissy, who is still living with Larry, is having trouble adjusting to her new living situation. Larry has a number of strange habits that Chrissy finds annoying, and she can't seem to get him to change his ways. When he starts inviting his friends over for poker games, Chrissy decides she's had enough and moves back in with Jack and the gang.
As the episode ends, Terri's boss confronts her about the rumor that she's planning to quit her job. Terri is able to explain the situation and salvage her career, and she and Jack make up. The gang all heads out to the Regal Beagle, happy to have resolved their issues and be back together again.
