Three's Company season 6 episode 1, titled "Jack Bares All" (a.k.a. "Oh, Nurse") (1), begins with Jack, Janet, and Chrissy waiting for their new roommate to arrive. They are surprised when a man named James Bradford shows up instead of a woman. James claims that he was hired as a nurse by a doctor who has just been promoted to take care of Janet, who has been experiencing back problems.
Initially, there is some concern about James living with three young women, but he puts their minds at ease by treating them as fellow professionals. They are impressed with his qualifications and pleased with his demeanor.
However, Jack becomes increasingly insecure about his manhood as he observes the way James interacts with the women. He becomes convinced that James is trying to seduce them and not really interested in being their nurse. Jack tries to demonstrate his own masculinity by engaging in various macho activities, such as lifting weights and performing karate moves.
Meanwhile, Janet and Chrissy are dealing with their own insecurities. Janet is ashamed of her back problems and feels like a burden to her roommates. Chrissy is worried that James, who she thinks is handsome, will think she is stupid.
As the episode progresses, the misunderstandings and miscommunications continue to escalate. Jack becomes more and more jealous of James, while James becomes more and more frustrated with Jack's behavior. Janet and Chrissy are caught in the middle and don't know how to defuse the situation.
Finally, everything comes to a head when Jack confronts James and accuses him of trying to steal the women away from him. James is taken aback by Jack's accusations and denies having any romantic interest in the women. Janet and Chrissy intervene and explain that James is a trained nurse and is only there to help Janet with her medical problem.
In the end, the roommates reconcile and agree to give James a chance. He proves to be an excellent nurse, and they are grateful for his help. Meanwhile, Jack learns that being secure in his own masculinity does not mean he has to constantly prove himself. Janet and Chrissy also learn to be more confident and assertive in their own lives.
"Jack Bares All" is a classic episode of Three's Company that explores themes of insecurity, jealousy, and miscommunication with humor and heart. Fans of the show will appreciate the witty banter, physical comedy, and memorable characters that made it a beloved sitcom.
