Jack is excited to have a big date with Linda, but he's also nervous because they've never gone out before. To calm his nerves, he goes to the Regal Beagle to have a drink with his roommates, Janet and Chrissy. However, Mr. Roper sees the trio together and assumes that Jack is two-timing his girlfriends and demands to know what's going on.
Jack tries to explain the situation to Mr. Roper, but he's too angry to listen. In an attempt to smooth things over, Janet suggests that Jack ask Linda to come to the apartment and meet everyone. Jack likes the idea and quickly invites Linda over, but then remembers that he doesn't have any coffee or tea to offer her.
Janet and Chrissy decide to go to the grocery store to buy some coffee and tea, but they end up getting sidetracked by a handsome produce manager named Mr. Saunders. Jack, desperate for coffee, decides to make some himself but ends up breaking the coffee maker.
As Linda arrives at the apartment, Jack is frantically trying to clean up the mess he made. He tries to play it cool around Linda, but his nerves get the better of him and he spills coffee all over himself. Linda finds his clumsiness endearing and they end up hitting it off.
Meanwhile, Janet and Chrissy are still at the store with Mr. Saunders, who is helping them pick out the perfect produce. They finally make it back to the apartment with the coffee and tea, but it seems like they may have found something more interesting than just drinks.
As the night wears on, Mr. Roper shows up unexpectedly and is greeted by Linda, who mistakes him for Jack's father. Mr. Roper is so flattered by the mistake that he decides to forgive Jack and let him off the hook.
In the end, everything works out for Jack and Linda, and Janet and Chrissy both get a little romance of their own. It's a feel-good episode of Three's Company that will leave you smiling.
