Jack, Janet, and Terri return from a night of karaoke singing when they hear a bird chirping in their apartment. Upon investigation, they discover a canary in the apartment, which Jack assumes belongs to their neighbor, Mr. Angelino. The trio debates on what to do with the bird, ultimately deciding to take care of it until they can find its owner.
Meanwhile, Mr. Roper is convinced that his wife Helen is trying to kill him. He overhears her conversation with her friend about a "perfect murder," and becomes paranoid that she is planning to kill him. He enlists Jack's help to investigate the situation.
Back at the apartment, the trio struggles with taking care of the canary, whom they have named "Tweetie." They try to feed it, but struggle to find appropriate food for the bird. Jack resorts to calling Mr. Angelino to ask for advice, but he is unhelpful and insists that the bird does not belong to him.
As the night wears on, Janet and Terri both fall asleep, leaving Jack to take care of Tweetie on his own. He struggles to keep the bird quiet, as it continues to chirp loudly throughout the night.
Meanwhile, Mr. Roper's paranoia reaches new heights, and he decides to take matters into his own hands. He creates a barricade in their bedroom and refuses to come out until he is convinced that his wife is not out to kill him.
Back at the apartment, Jack is still struggling with Tweetie when Mr. Angelino shows up, demanding the return of his canary. He reveals that he had lied earlier and that the bird did indeed belong to him. Jack is reluctant to give up Tweetie, but ultimately agrees to return the bird to its rightful owner.
As the episode comes to a close, Mr. Roper finally emerges from his barricade and is relieved to find that his wife was not trying to kill him. Meanwhile, Jack, Janet, and Terri reflect on the events of the night and wonder what adventure will come their way next.
