In season 4 episode 3 of the Three Stooges Collection, titled "Spook Louder," the trio find themselves involved in a haunted house plot. The Stooges are hired by a professor to investigate a spooky mansion that is believed to be haunted by ghosts. The professor wants to prove that the rumors are just superstitions and put an end to them once and for all.
The Stooges are hesitant, but the promise of a big paycheck convinces them to take the job. Upon arriving at the mansion, they are met by the caretaker (played by comedian Dick Elliott) who warns them of the dangers that await them inside. Ignoring his warnings, the Stooges venture into the mansion armed with flashlights and bravery.
As they explore the dark and creepy halls, they encounter some frightening situations and try their best to stay together. However, they soon discover that things are not what they seem and that the ghosts might actually be real. Terrified, they try to escape the mansion, but every time they think they've found the way out, they end up in a different room.
One of the highlights of the episode is when the Stooges come across a secret laboratory and inadvertently bring to life a Frankenstein-like monster. As they try to avoid the monster's wrath, they also have to deal with various traps, such as hidden doors and collapsing floors, in their bid for escape.
Throughout the episode, the Stooges' unique brand of physical comedy and slapstick humor is on full display. From poking each other in the eyes to getting hit with various objects, their antics elicit laughs from start to finish. Moreover, their interactions with the supporting cast, particularly the caretaker and the professor, add an extra layer of humor to the proceedings.
In the end, the Stooges manage to escape the haunted house and return to the professor, who pays them their fee and congratulates them on a job well done. However, as they bask in the glory of their victory, they realize that they've left something important behind in the mansion...and they're not too eager to go back for it.
"Spook Louder" is a classic example of the Three Stooges' comedic style. The episode's creepy atmosphere and horror tropes are the perfect foil for the trio's zany antics, resulting in a hilarious and entertaining episode that is sure to delight fans of the show.
