The episode entitled "Episode 9" of This Farming Life Season 3 follows the agricultural journeys of various British farmers as they navigate through the challenges of maintaining their farms and livelihoods.
In the first part of the episode, viewers catch up with Aled and Dafydd, who had initially struggled with lambing season as they had tripled their flock. However, the twins have come up with an ingenious solution: their trusted sheepdog, Glen, is now equipped with a dog-cam to help keep track of the sheep, especially during those times that a large number of newborns arrive. Later, they face a new threat of a rare fly strike disease that has been attacking their herd, and the twins must make quick decisions on the best way to handle the situation.
Meanwhile, over at Newfield Dairy, Steve and Rachel are busy preparing for a cheese festival. In their bid to get everything ready for the big day, Steve appears to be more panicked than ever. He is the cheesemaker, and the festival is not the time for mistakes. Rachel is hoping to ease some of the pressure off Steve by trying to finish up the labeling process for the cheese.
Elsewhere, Kirsty and Aimee, who are both petrified of snakes, take steps to rid them from their animal sanctuary. They seek advice on how to deter snakes and even resort to some unusual tactics to keep the pests away. Meanwhile, they also welcome some rare breeds onto the farm and have a meeting with a prospective beekeeper.
Over at the beautiful Glenkilrie Larder, John and his team prepare for their monthly farmers' market, where they showcase their exclusive line of estate-raised beef and venison. But before that, they must meet the expectation of a guest chef, and John is keen to impress. In addition, John welcomes a new member to his team, and she comes with plenty of restaurant experience.
Finally, the team catches up with Rosemary, who runs a smallholding with her granddaughter, Olivia. Despite no longer having their herd of cows, the pair still make butter, sell eggs, and grow their own fruit and vegetables. In this episode, they face the challenge of making their barn habitable for their sheep and goats and prepare for the arrival of a new Alpine goat that Olivia has been waiting anxiously for.
