He also discusses the arrival of new staff members, including a new veterinarian and several keepers.
The focus then shifts to some of the more notable animals at the zoo. We see Mert, a 540-pound sea lion, as he goes through a check-up with veterinarians. We also get a glimpse at the zoo's tigers, including an 8-month-old cub named Nadia who is being taught how to swim.
One of the main storylines of the episode revolves around Millie, a 5-year-old gorilla who is pregnant with her first baby. Next, we see keepers working with a group of endangered little blue penguins in a behind-the-scenes look at the penguin exhibit. The keepers work with the penguins to prepare them for a parade that will take them past visitors in the zoo.
The episode then introduces viewers to a new addition to the zoo, a family of river otters. We follow the otters as they swim and play, and we learn about the species' importance in the ecosystem.
Finally, we see a group of elderly elephants, including a 55-year-old female named Maxine. We learn about the challenges faced by these aging elephants and the efforts that zookeepers and veterinarians are making to ensure their comfort and care.
Throughout the episode, we see the dedication and hard work put in by the zoo staff as they ensure the health and well-being of the animals in their care. The episode ends with a sense of optimism and excitement for what's to come in the new season.
