As the title suggests, The Yorkshire Vet is a show about a veterinarian clinic called Skeldale Veterinary Centre in the Yorkshire Dales. Season 6 Episode 2 revolves around the daily routine of the veterinary clinic and the different animals they treat.
The episode starts with Peter announcing that he has a special surprise for Julian. Peter has arranged a new member for the team, a new veterinary surgeon named Matt. Initially reluctant, Julian seems to come around once he meets the new surgeon. The episode then shows Matt being introduced to the patients and staff.
The first case is of a young donkey that has been suffering from a painful hernia. Peter and Matt take the donkey into surgery, and they need to be very careful because donkeys have a sensitive digestion system. They successfully complete the surgery, and the owner is delighted with the outcome.
Since it is lambing season, the clinic sees a lot of cases related to the delivery of newborn lambs. One case is of a ewe who has been struggling with her delivery. Julian and Matt check for the causes and find that the lamb is in a breech position. They successfully assist the lamb's delivery, and both the ewe and the lamb are safe.
Another case is of a cow that has an intravenous line that needs inspection. Peter, Julian, and Matt check the cow and find that the line can be used for a few more days. They replace the bandages and observe the cow for any infection.
The next case is of a deer that has lost its mother and is not eating. The veterinary team is concerned about the deer's health and decides to take it back to the clinic. They check for any injuries, illnesses or infections, but everything seems to be fine. They suspect that the deer is going through stress due to the loss of its mother. The team agrees to monitor the deer and provide the care it needs to regain its heath.
The episode also features various other cases such as a horse's injured foot, a pig with mastitis, and a cat's infected paw. However, the highlight of the episode is the case of a little dog named Biscuit. Biscuit is a crossbreed that has a skin problem. Biscuit's owner has spent a lot of money on different treatments, but nothing seems to be working. The veterinary team examines Biscuit and find that he has a severe case of mange. They provide Biscuit with the care he needs and after a week, check up on Biscuit's condition. The progress that Biscuit made in such a short amount of time was pleasing to both the veterinary team and Biscuit's owner.
The episode ends with Julian taking an unusual call. A farmer tells Julian that he has a French camel in his farm. Julian is astounded and visits the farm with Peter and Matt. They discover a nine-month-old camel, and the veterinary team is thrilled to have such an unusual patient.
In conclusion, The Yorkshire Vet season 6 episode 2 showcases the work that goes on in a veterinary clinic. The veterinary team works tirelessly to provide care for all kinds of animals.
