Mulder and Scully are called to investigate a strange incident in the woods of Florida, where a group of loggers have gone missing. Upon arrival, they discover that the woods are inhabited by what the locals call "The Wildmen," a group of mysterious creatures that are said to be supernatural in nature.
As they delve deeper into the investigation, Mulder and Scully encounter a group of tourists who are also stranded in the woods and have witnessed the strange happenings. They soon realize that they are being tracked by the Wildmen, who seem to be using the trees and surrounding foliage to their advantage.
As the night wears on, Mulder and Scully begin to suspect that there is more to the Wildmen than just mere legend. The creatures seem to be highly intelligent and possess a language of their own. They also seem to have a deep connection to the land, as if they are the guardians of the forest.
Meanwhile, the tourists begin to turn on each other as tension mounts and resources become scarce. Mulder and Scully are forced to not only contend with the Wildmen but also with the tourists' growing paranoia.
As the situation becomes more dire, Mulder and Scully must rely on their instincts and each other's expertise to survive the night. But as they struggle to unravel the mystery of the Wildmen, they are forced to confront the possibility that some legends may be rooted in truth.
In this tense and thrilling episode, Mulder and Scully must face both human and supernatural threats as they attempt to unravel the mysteries of the Florida woods. With plenty of suspense and drama, "Detour" is a must-see for fans of The X-Files.
