Ep 2. Redux II (3)

Mulder is in a coma after being exposed to the alien virus. Scully is determined to find the cure that can save her partner, however, Skinner warns her to drop the case because she is putting her career in danger. Scully won't listen and goes back to Mulder's apartment to search for clues. There, she discovers a letter from Mulder addressed to her in which he states his belief that his sister was abducted by the government because they saw something they weren't supposed to see: an alien. Scully returns to Skinner and he agrees to help her search for a cure and provides her with access to classified information which reveals that the government has developed a cure for the virus. Scully confronts the Smoking Man and demands the cure for Mulder, but he releases her instead, telling her that the cure would bring the end of the world as we know it. Meanwhile, the Syndicate decides to eliminate Mulder because they believe he knows too much and will never be able to keep his mouth shut. They want to follow through with this plan, even if it means risking revealing themselves to the government. Scully gets a call from Skinner who tells her that Mulder has woken up from his coma and that he is going to be alright. As she leaves the hospital, she sees the Smoking Man watching her and realizes that she was right that they knew a cure existed all along. She leaves the hospital with hope that there is still so much more to uncover and that their search for the truth will continue.
