Mulder and Scully are called in to investigate a strange occurrence at a hospital where a woman has been found with a part of her face missing. Upon investigation, they discover a cult-like group of people who have taken the search for eternal life to extremes. They are led by a charismatic doctor who claims to have found a way to extend one's life through a gruesome process involving consuming human organs. The duo soon realizes that there is a darker side to this cult than what meets the eye and that it may have far-reaching implications.
Mulder and Scully are introduced to the cult leader, Barbara Beaumont, a former actress who has resorted to consuming human organs to maintain her youthful appearance. They also meet her protégé, a young woman whom she rescued from a life of prostitution and abuse.
