The World From Above season 8 episode 3 explores the breathtaking beauty of Wales as we travel from Monmouth to the Dee Estuary. Our journey begins at the historic town of Monmouth, located on the border of England and Wales. As we fly over Monmouth, we get a bird's eye view of the River Wye, which flows through the town and is surrounded by lush green forests.
Next, we fly over the picturesque town of Abergavenny, situated at the foot of the Blorenge mountain. From above, we can see the town's medieval castle ruins, the bustling market town centre and the rolling hills that surround it.
As we travel further west, we reach the Brecon Beacons National Park, one of the most stunning and popular destinations in Wales, renowned for its stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife. From above, we see the dramatic peaks of Pen y Fan and Corn Du, the highest peaks in the range, as well as the stunning waterfalls of Pontneddfechan.
Flying further west, we come to the stunning Gower Peninsula, with its rugged, rocky coastline, sandy beaches and hidden bays. From above, we can see the popular surfing beach of Llangennith, the stunning Three Cliffs Bay, and the Gower's most western tip of Worm's Head.
The episode then takes us north to Snowdonia National Park, a place of outstanding natural beauty, where we see Wales' highest peak, Mount Snowdon, at 1,085 metres, which dominates the landscape in the area. We also fly over Llyn Trawsfynydd, a beautiful lake located between the Rhinogydd and Arenig mountain ranges.
The Dee Estuary is our final destination and the largest natural harbour in the UK. From above, we can see the vibrant city of Chester, with its historic city walls and the iconic Eastgate Clock, which is one of the most photographed landmarks in the city. The estuary is home to a huge variety of wildlife, including birds, seals and porpoises.
Throughout the episode, we enjoy an array of stunning aerial views, capturing the beauty and diversity of Wales; a land of rugged mountains, rolling hills, ancient towns, and beautiful coastlines.
