In this episode, titled "Growing Up," we see Kevin Arnold and his friends entering their high school years. They had just finished junior high and are now trying to navigate the changes that come with being a little older.

Kevin is especially feeling the changes as he is struggling with his height which is still shorter than most of his peers, and he is also having a hard time fitting in with the cool crowd. His best friend, Paul Pfeiffer, is not helping much with his awkward antics and utter lack of athletic ability which embarrasses Kevin in front of his new classmates. It's hard for Kevin to find his footing in high school as he misses the comfort and familiarity of junior high, but he meets new friends along the way.

Meanwhile, Kevin's older brother Wayne is beginning his senior year and is feeling the pressure of becoming an adult and leaving high school behind. He's realizing that hooking up with girls and being the cool guy isn't going to be enough in the real world and he's starting to think about his future.

Their father, Jack Arnold, is also struggling with the changes. After years of working hard at his job at NORCOM, he's realizing that his company is downsizing, and there may not be room for him in his position much longer. He's worried about providing for his family and is thinking about exploring new job opportunities.

Kevin's mom, Norma Arnold, is trying to keep everything together and is feeling pressure of her own. She's realizing that her youngest child, Karen, is growing up and will soon be leaving for college. She's also seeing how quickly time is passing and is trying her best to hold onto her family's traditions and keep everyone together.

Overall, this episode deals with the theme of growing up and all the changes, both big and small, that come with it. The cast of characters is as relatable as ever, and viewers will find themselves nodding along as they watch the Arnold family adjust to their new lives. It's a poignant reminder that life moves quickly and that it's important to hold onto the things and people we love before they slip away.
