Ep 1. Day One

The Wilds is a TV drama series that follows a group of teenage girls from different backgrounds who become stranded on a deserted island after their plane crashes. In season 1 episode 1, titled Day One, we are introduced to the main characters. A group of nine girls sets off on a plane journey as part of a summer camp, but due to unforeseen circumstances, they end up stranded on a remote island.

Fatin who is rich and entitled tries to lord over the others, knowing that she has more money and resources than the others. She insists that someone will find them soon and that they don't need to worry. Dot is a science enthusiast and immediately starts gathering items that can be useful in their survival. Martha seems to be struggling with some personal issues and seems to have a difficult relationship with her family. Rachel is a devout Christian and believes that they are stranded on the island for a reason. Nora is the quiet type, and we are not given much information about her at this point. Toni is a basketball player with a tough exterior and a chip on her shoulder. Shelby is an Instagram influencer, but her carefully curated life is starting to unravel.

As the girls start to explore the island, they realize that they are not alone. They encounter a pig, a snake, and a booby. They also find a cave and explore it, hoping to find shelter and resources. The girls have to figure out how to work together to survive, which proves to be a challenge. Leah tries to keep everyone calm, but there are tensions between some of the girls, particularly between Fatin and Toni, who get into a physical altercation.

Throughout the episode, we see flashbacks to the girls' lives before the crash. We see Leah's strained relationship with her mother, Fatin's isolation, Dot's love of science and animals, Martha's difficulties with self-image, Rachel's faith, Nora's closeness with her grandfather, Toni's relationship with her father, and Shelby's lavish lifestyle and the attention she gets from her followers.

Overall, Day One is a compelling start to the series, introducing us to the characters and setting up the premise of the show. The episode is well-paced, and the tension is palpable as the girls realize the severity of their situation. The flashbacks give us insight into the girls' lives and make us care about them as individuals. The Wilds promises to be an exciting and emotionally charged series that explores themes of survival, friendship, and identity.
