However, things take a turn for the worse when Eliza, the show's main protagonist, becomes separated from her family.
While out exploring the forest, Eliza stumbles upon an ancient ruin buried deep in the jungle. She cannot resist the urge to explore and ends up becoming trapped in the ruins. As Eliza frantically tries to find a way out of the ruins, her family is desperately searching for her.
As she tries to escape, Eliza learns that the ancient ruin was once a temple to the shamanic spirit of the jungle. Inside, she meets a group of indigenous people who have been living in the temple for generations. Eliza, who has a gift for speaking to animals, is able to understand their language and quickly becomes friends with the tribe.
While Eliza bonds with the indigenous people, her family sets out on a search party to look for her. However, they are met with much difficulty as the rainforest presents numerous challenges such as thick vegetation and dangerous animals. Nevertheless, the Thornberry family perseveres and eventually find Eliza.
During the reunion, Eliza's new friends reveal that they have been trying to fight off a group of loggers who have been encroaching on their land. The loggers have been cutting down trees and destroying the forest habitat of the animals, including the rare golden lion tamarin that the Thornberrys were hoping to film. Understanding the importance of preserving the forest, the family comes up with a plan to help the tribe protect their land.
