In The Wild Thornberrys season 2 episode 2, titled "Dinner with Darwin," the Thornberry family finds themselves stranded in the middle of the jungle with no vehicle and no way to communicate with the outside world. To make matters worse, Darwin, the family's pet chimpanzee, has fallen ill and needs medical attention.
As the family attempts to find a way back to civilization, they come across a field of yams that they believe will help cure Darwin's illness. However, the yams are sacred to a local tribe and the family must ask for permission before taking them.
While waiting for an answer from the tribe, the family sets up camp and prepares a makeshift dinner with the yams they've collected. However, things take a turn for the worse when a group of gorillas arrive and steal the family's food.
As the family tries to retrieve their stolen dinner, Eliza, the youngest member of the Thornberry family, discovers that the gorillas are the same ones her mother once helped save from captivity. Eliza is able to communicate with the gorillas and persuade them to share their own food with the Thornberrys.
With Darwin feeling better after eating the yams, the family sets off to finally find a way back to civilization. However, they soon come across a raging river that they must cross in order to continue their journey.
Using their ingenuity and quick thinking, the family is able to build a raft and successfully make their way across the river. They finally reach civilization and are able to get Darwin the medical attention he needs.
Overall, "Dinner with Darwin" is a thrilling episode that showcases the strength and determination of the Thornberry family. Despite being faced with numerous challenges, they are able to overcome them through teamwork, communication, and a never-give-up attitude.
