When the storm hits and floodwaters threatened to sweep away the Thornberry's new comrade, a baby dolphin named Tally, the Thornberry's scramble to find higher ground. But when Tally fails to emerge from the water, Eliza takes matters into her own hands, traveling downriver to find Tally and reunite him with his mother. Meanwhile, Debbie becomes convinced that the Dumonts are cursed, leading her on a quest to avoid "stepping on cracks" and "walking under ladders" – and Nick an opportunity to play a series of increasingly ridiculous practical jokes on her. As the floodwaters continue to rise and the phone lines go down, the Thornberry's must rely on their own ingenuity to stay safe and find a way back to civilization. With the help of new friends and old, including a friendly river otter with a taste for adventure and a deep understanding of the local terrain, they navigate treacherous rapids, encounter dangerous wildlife, and learn to find strength in each other in the face of disaster. As they wait for the waters to recede and life to return to normal, the Thornberry's come to understand the interconnectedness of all living things, and the importance of working together to protect our planet and the creatures that call it home.
