The Watch is a British fantasy television show that premiered on BBC America in 2021. Based on Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, the show is set in the fictional city of Ankh-Morpork. The show follows the misadventures of a group of misfit police officers called The City Watch, who are tasked with keeping the peace in a city famous for its anarchic and corrupt nature. Led by the charismatic yet flawed Commander Sam Vimes (Richard Dormer), the Watch is made up of a diverse and quirky cast of characters.

Lara Rossi plays the role of Lady Sybil Ramkin, a noblewoman with a passion for dragon conservation who joins the Watch as a consultant. Adam Hugill plays the naive and earnest Constable Carrot Ironfoundersson, who was raised by dwarves but discovers he is actually the rightful heir to the Ankh-Morpork throne. Other members of the Watch include the cynical and sarcastic Corporal Angua (Marama Corlett) who can transform into a wolf, the mysterious and brooding Nobby (Eddie Izzard), and the undead wizard Windle Poons (Matt Berry).

The Watch faces its fair share of challenges in their daily line of duty, including corrupt politicians, organized crime, and magical creatures. They also have to contend with a sinister entity known as The Summoning Dark, which resides within Vimes and threatens to consume him if he's not careful.

The show's tone is a mix of humor, action, and drama, with a heavy emphasis on the absurd and fantastical. The city of Ankh-Morpork is portrayed as a sprawling metropolis filled with eccentric characters, bizarre customs, and magical technology. It's a place where anything can happen, and often does.

The Watch is notable for its subversion of traditional fantasy tropes. It's a show that pokes fun at the genre while also embracing its inherent silliness. The characters are flawed and relatable, and their interactions are often humorous and lighthearted.

Overall, The Watch is a fun and entertaining show that's perfect for fans of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. Its irreverent humor, charming characters, and imaginative setting make it a must-watch for anyone looking for a fresh take on the fantasy genre.

The Watch is a series that ran for 1 seasons (8 episodes) between January 3, 2021 and on BBC America
