In season 9 episode 12 of The Walking Dead titled "Guardians," tensions rise as the survivors work to protect their communities. The episode begins with Carol and Henry settling into their new home at the Kingdom, with Ezekiel acting as their guardian. Meanwhile, Daryl and Connie venture into the Whisperers’ territory to search for Henry, who has run away. Along the way, they encounter a new group of survivors who have been living underground in the sewers.
Back at the Hilltop, Michonne and Jesus struggle with their opposing opinions on how to handle the Whisperers. Elsewhere, Negan is being held in a cell at Alexandria, but Gabriel is struggling with his role as Negan’s confidant. He is torn between his duty to keep Negan locked up and his desire to understand the former villain’s motives and possibly even rehabilitate him. Meanwhile, Rosita and Eugene head out on a mission to fix a malfunctioning radio, but they soon realize that they are being followed by a mysterious group.
Throughout the episode, themes of trust and loyalty are tested as the survivors face new and old foes. The characters must navigate moral dilemmas in order to protect those they care about, even if it means making difficult decisions. The episode ends with a shocking reveal that will leave fans eager for the next installment of the season.
