Ep 14. Fool Me Once

Elena and Stefan are still reeling from the revelations about Katherine and their past, but they are forced to put their personal struggles aside when Bonnie's powers go awry. As they attend a school dance, Bonnie suddenly collapses, her eyes turning black. The group learns that Bonnie has been summoning the spirits of Salem witches, who are angry and vengeful after centuries of oppression. Meanwhile, Elena's suspicions about Stefan's motives are heightened when her estranged uncle, John Gilbert, returns to town with a mysterious agenda.

Damon takes advantage of the chaos to try and outmaneuver Stefan and get closer to Elena. He conspires with Alaric, the new history teacher at Mystic Falls High, to uncover the Gilbert family's secrets and find a way to defeat Katherine once and for all. But their efforts are complicated by the arrival of Isobel, Alaric's ex-wife and Elena's birth mother, who seems to be working with Damon and has her own agenda as well.

As the tensions mount and the danger escalates, Elena must choose who to trust and how to navigate the ever-changing landscape of her complicated relationships. She also confronts some hard truths about herself and her own role in the events unfolding around her. With the help of her friends and family, Elena fights to overcome the forces of darkness that threaten to consume her and destroy everything she holds dear.
