So Moon's grandmother, who is also capable of seeing spirits, has taught him how to deal with the phantoms around him. One day, while walking with his grandmother, he discovers another part of the afterlife's realms, the Limbo. There, he meets the Counters, an organization of demon hunters who work in secret, exterminating the evil spirits that roam around. Although hesitant to join, So Moon's encounter with a monster who's been tempting students online with dangerous games and is now targeting So Moon's best friend forces him to change his mind.
The Counters notice So Moon's unique ability, and they convince him to join their team and fight evildoers. So Moon enlists in The Counters' organization and quickly becomes one of their top recruits, helped by his unique ability to see spirits.
In Episode 1, we are also introduced to the other members of The Counters team, including the serious and experienced leader, Ga Mo-tak, who is half demon half-human, and his sidekick, Do Ha-na, a hacker, who uses her tech-savvy skills to aid The Counters in their ghost-hunting missions.

Their battle with the demon comes to a head, leading to a shocking and unexpected twist that reveals the real power The Counters possess. So Moon is both in awe and terror of the power he sees; he also becomes more aware of his place within the group and the dangers that he and his team face every day.
