Ep 9. Throwin' Bombs
- May 28, 2008
The Ultimate Fighter season 7 episode 9, titled "Throwin' Bombs," brings fans another intense episode of the popular MMA competition series. This episode sees the remaining fighters battling it out in the quarterfinals, with the stakes higher than ever before.
As the episode kicks off, tensions are running high among the fighters. They are all acutely aware that one wrong move could send them packing, so they are pushing themselves harder than ever in training and preparing themselves mentally for the fights ahead.
As always, the coaches are there to offer guidance and support. This season's coaches are UFC veterans Forrest Griffin and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, who are each leading a team of fighters towards the ultimate goal of being crowned the Ultimate Fighter.
The first fight of the episode is between two heavyweight contenders: Matt Mitrione and Scott Junk. Both fighters are determined to come out on top, but only one will advance to the next round.
In the weeks leading up to the fight, Matt and Scott have been studying each other's strengths and weaknesses. They know each other's fighting styles inside and out, and are both confident in their ability to win.
When the bell rings, the two heavyweights come out swinging. Both fighters are landing heavy shots, but it's Matt who seems to be getting the better of Scott. He's using his speed and quickness to evade Scott's attacks, and is striking with precision and power.
Scott is not going down without a fight, however. He's landing some solid shots of his own, and is showing off his grappling skills. Throughout the fight, both fighters are pushing themselves to the absolute limit, determined to come out as the victor.
As the fight approaches its end, both Matt and Scott are visibly exhausted. They've given it their all, but only one can win. The judges' decision is a close one, but in the end it's Matt who comes out on top, advancing to the semifinals.
The second fight of the episode is between two middleweight fighters: Dante Rivera and Matthew Riddle. Both fighters are hungry for a win, and are willing to do whatever it takes to come out on top.
Dante is a veteran of the sport, with years of experience under his belt. He's known for his powerful striking and his iron chin, and is considered by many to be a formidable opponent.
Matthew, on the other hand, is a relative newcomer to MMA, but he's already made a name for himself with his unorthodox fighting style and his never-say-die attitude.
When the fight begins, it's clear that Dante is the more experienced fighter. He's landing clean shots and is using his reach advantage to keep Matthew at bay.
But Matthew is not one to be deterred. He's constantly pressing forward, and is showing off his impressive grappling skills. As the fight wears on, it becomes a battle of wills: can Dante continue to land clean shots, or will Matthew drag him down to the ground and use his wrestling to get the win?
Ultimately, it's Dante who pulls out the victory, moving on to the semifinals and leaving Matthew to rue missed opportunities.
As always, the episode ends with a preview of the next fight. The remaining fighters are each one step closer to the ultimate goal, but they also know that the competition will only get tougher from here on out. The question now is: who will come out on top?
