In "Mr. Garrity and the Graves," the residents of the small town of Happiness, Arizona are none too pleased with the arrival of Jared Garrity, a con artist who claims to have the power to resurrect the dead. Garrity makes a deal with the townspeople, agreeing to resurrect their loved ones for a fee. However, the initial joy of seeing their loved ones again quickly turns to horror as the resurrected corpses begin to act strangely, almost as if they are not really alive.
The townspeople become increasingly paranoid as they try to figure out what is going on with the resurrected corpses, and they begin to suspect that Garrity may be up to no good. Meanwhile, Garrity continues to make deals with the townspeople, offering them empty promises of bringing back their deceased loved ones in exchange for money.
As tensions rise, the townspeople begin to turn on one another, and it becomes clear that Garrity's true intentions may be darker than anyone originally suspected. The episode explores themes of greed, the dangers of making deals with the devil, and the lengths people will go to in order to cling to hope in the face of grief and loss.
"Mr. Garrity and the Graves" is a standout episode of The Twilight Zone's fifth season, offering a chilling cautionary tale that will leave viewers questioning what they would do in a similar situation. With memorable performances from its ensemble cast and a clever, twisty plot, this episode is a must-see for any fan of the classic sci-fi anthology series.
