Arthur Curtis arrives at an empty sound stage to begin his day of work as an actor in a movie. Suddenly, he discovers that his ordinary life as an actor is actually a fictional creation. He is actually a man named Gerald Raigan, who works in New York City as an insurance agent. Despite his insistence to the contrary, no one believes him when he tries to explain his true identity. The people he has always known as his wife and daughter are now strangers to him, and he begins to question his reality. In his quest to find answers, he discovers that he may be a part of a larger conspiracy involving a government organization known as the Fourth Dimensional Research and Development Program.

As Arthur struggles to hold onto his sanity and uncover the truth, he eventually makes a breakthrough when he is able to speak with the director of the movie set, who has been watching his every move. Together, they piece together a plan to discover the truth behind his double life and try to find a way back to his real world.
