Harry Quebert is still in jail, accused of killing the young girl, and his protege, Marcus, is combating continuously to prove his innocence.
As Marcus begins to probe further into the details of Harry's life, he meets with Luther Caleb, a retired boxing champion and one of Harry's old friends. Luther shares stories of Harry's past, including his relationship with Nola and how it might have led to her death.
Meanwhile, the investigation into Nola's murder takes a new turn when the police discover a hidden camera in Harry's cabin. This leads them to a disturbing revelation about Harry's supposed friendship with Nola, which puts him in an even worse light.
Marcus also delves into Harry's literary career, as he works to understand how Harry wrote his famous novel "The Origins of Evil" in just 33 days. As Marcus reads through Harry's notes and drafts, he starts to see that some of Harry's most controversial characters might be based on real people in his life.
As the episode progresses, we see Marcus struggling to come to terms with the revelations about his mentor and friend.
