Up first is Brie Larson, the Academy Award-winning actress known for her captivating roles in movies like Room, Captain Marvel, and Kong: Skull Island. Larson sits down with Fallon to discuss her latest project, Just Mercy, which tells the powerful true story of civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson (played by Michael B. Jordan) as he fights to free a wrongly condemned death row prisoner. Larson's role in the film is that of Eva Ansley, Stevenson's collaborator and co-founder of the Equal Justice Initiative. Larson and Fallon talk about the importance of the film's message and how it relates to the ongoing movement for racial justice in America. Larson also shares some of her experiences working with co-stars Jordan, Jamie Foxx, and Rob Morgan, and working with director Destin Daniel Cretton on set.
Next up on the show is comedian and writer Wyatt Cenac, who's been seen on shows like The Daily Show and People of Earth. Fallon and Cenac discuss some of the challenges and rewards of tackling such topics with humor and empathy, and Cenac shares some of his insights into what it takes to make socially conscious comedy.
To cap off the night, Wu-Tang Clan takes the stage for an unforgettable performance. The legendary hip-hop group, whose members include RZA, GZA, Method Man, Ghostface Killah, and more, has been making music together for over 25 years and has released some of the most influential and iconic albums in rap history.
