After being exiled from Earth by the Mighty Avengers, Hulk finds himself stranded on the distant planet of Sakaar. There, he is enslaved and forced to fight in gladiator-style battles for the amusement of the planet's ruler, the Red King.
When the Super Hero Squad receives a distress signal from Sakaar, they travel to the planet to investigate. Upon arrival, they are quickly attacked by the Red King's army of loyal soldiers and must fight their way through the treacherous terrain in order to reach Hulk.
Once they find him, the Squad realizes that Hulk is no longer the hero they once knew - he is bitter and angry, consumed by his hatred of the Avengers and Earth itself. Despite this, the Squad refuses to give up on him and works to convince him to come back to their side and fight for what's right.
Meanwhile, the Red King learns of the Squad's presence on his planet and orders his soldiers to capture them at any cost. With their backs against the wall and the fate of the planet in the balance, the Super Hero Squad must band together and use all of their skills and powers to not only save Hulk, but to defeat the Red King once and for all.
