Zack is in trouble again, but this time, he's facing the consequences of his actions. He's failed his history exam, and if he doesn't pass the makeup test, he'll have to repeat the semester. Cody tries to help him study, but Zack just can't focus. He's too busy daydreaming about impressing a girl he likes.
The twins and their friends hear about a computer program that can supposedly help Zack pass his test. The program, called "Ask Zack," is an AI that can answer any history question that Zack inputs. At first, the program seems like a miracle solution. Zack passes his practice tests with flying colors, and he's confident he'll ace his makeup exam. But when the actual test comes around, things take a turn for the worse.
Zack realizes too late that he's become too reliant on "Ask Zack." He hasn't actually learned anything, and when he's faced with questions that the program can't answer, he's stumped. He starts panicking, knowing that his future may depend on this test. Meanwhile, Cody realizes that Zack's reliance on the computer program has hindered his critical thinking skills. He tries to get Zack to think for himself, to work through the questions instead of relying on a computer.
In the end, Zack does pass the makeup exam, but not with the highest score. He's relieved that he won't have to repeat the semester, but he also knows that he needs to work harder in the future. The experience teaches him a valuable lesson about taking shortcuts and the importance of actually learning the material. Cody is glad that his brother has learned his lesson, and also relieved that he won't have to spend another semester dealing with Zack's shenanigans.
