Coran Capshaw, a wealthy attorney, is questioned by Detective Ambrose and Detective Novack about his connection to Frankie Belmont, who was found murdered in the woods. During the conversation, it is revealed that Cora Tannetti met Frankie when she was with her friends at a beach party.
Coran also confesses that he met Cora at the party and they had sex in his car, but he left her soon after. He states that he never saw her again after that night. However, the detectives discover a video of Cora and Frankie dancing together at the party, which contradicts Coran's account.
Meanwhile, Cora is in prison where she meets a woman named Lorna who tells her about a new drug that can make people forget traumatic events. Cora becomes fixated on getting her hands on the drug and enlists the help of another inmate to smuggle it into the prison.
Back in town, Detective Ambrose starts to doubt Cora's guilt and begins to investigate her past. He discovers that Cora and her sister Phoebe were in a religious cult when they were younger and that they were subjected to sexual abuse by the cult's leader.
Ambrose visits Phoebe in a psychiatric hospital and learns that she was with Cora on the day Frankie was killed. He becomes convinced that Phoebe may have witnessed the murder and that Cora may have blocked it out of her memory.
As the investigation continues, Cora becomes increasingly unstable and obsessed with the idea of finding the drug that can help her remember what happened on the day of the murder. She becomes involved in a violent altercation with another inmate and is sent to solitary confinement.
In the final moments of the episode, Cora receives a surprise visitor in her cell. It's her husband, Mason, who is distraught over her arrest and seeks answers from her. The two have a heated confrontation, and Cora reveals a shocking secret that could change the course of the investigation.
