In "Treehouse of Horror VI," the annual Halloween episode of The Simpsons, the family enters three different horror-themed tales.
In the first segment, "Attack of the 50-Foot Eyesores," Springfield is host to a heatwave and a new advertising campaign with oversized mascots for local businesses. However, when a lightning storm brings them to life, they go on a rampage across the town causing chaos. It's up to Homer to save the day using his newly discovered power of changing advertising slogans.
Next up is "Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace," a parody of A Nightmare on Elm Street. When Bart accidentally causes a science project disaster, he fakes his own death so he can have a day off school. However, his plan backfires when he has terrifying nightmares about Groundskeeper Willie, who has turned into a Freddy Krueger-like character and is targeting him in his dreams.
Finally, "HomerĀ³" takes the family into a new realm of horror when Homer discovers a mysterious portal in the bookshelf and gets sucked into a three-dimensional world. Meanwhile, Marge and the kids search for a way to bring him back which involves getting help from a group of scientists.
Throughout the episode, there are also various Halloween-themed jokes and references, including a spoof of the Twilight Zone opening sequence and appearances from classic horror characters such as Dracula and Frankenstein's monster.
Overall, "Treehouse of Horror VI" is a classic Halloween episode of The Simpsons, full of scares, laughs, and references to horror classics.
