After getting into trouble at school, Bart meets a new girl in town named Laura who seems to have everything going for her. She's smart, beautiful, and even enjoys all of the same things that Bart does. The two quickly hit it off, becoming inseparable and causing Bart to become obsessed with her.
However, Lisa begins to suspect that Laura may not be all that she seems, especially when she catches her stealing from a department store. As Lisa investigates further, she discovers that Laura has a checkered past and is known for causing trouble wherever she goes. Despite Lisa's warnings, Bart continues to defend her, refusing to believe that Laura is capable of doing anything wrong.
