In The Simpsons season 4 episode 10, Lisa's First Word, we travel back in time to see a younger version of the titular character. In the episode's opening scene, we see the family rummaging through their attic for old items. Among the forgotten treasures is a videotape of Lisa's first word. As they pop the tape into the VCR, the screen fades to a nostalgic flashback of the Simpson family when Bart was just starting school and Lisa was still a baby.

The rest of the episode is split between the present day and the past, as Marge and Homer reminisce about Lisa's early years. We watch as Homer and Marge struggle to get their young children to sleep, while Lisa remains awake and alert, taking everything in even at such a young age. After a long battle with insomnia, Marge discovers that playing soothing jazz music puts Lisa right to sleep. It becomes a nightly ritual for the mother and daughter to listen to the music together.

As Lisa begins to talk more and more, we see her intelligence and wit on full display. Her first word is not your typical baby babble, but an eloquent "Bart." This leaves Homer ecstatic, as he believes his daughter not only spoke her first word but also declared her love for her older brother. However, Marge is not too thrilled about this, as she fears Lisa will end up in a codependent relationship with her brother.

We get an insight into the dynamics of the Simpson family's relationships as the siblings grow up together. Lisa discovers her love for music and develops a talent for playing the saxophone. Meanwhile, Bart continues to be his mischievous self, playing pranks on his parents and sister. Homer, still overjoyed by Lisa's first word, spends most of his time showering her with attention, while Marge worries that he is ignoring their other children.

The episode is filled with heartwarming moments as we witness Lisa and Bart's relationship develop. They have their own language of sorts and even have a secret handshake. However, things change when baby Maggie is born. Lisa's once close bond with her brother becomes strained as she struggles with the realization that she is no longer the center of her parents' attention.

As the present-day story returns, we see the family once again reflecting on the past. This time, they watch another video tape, this one featuring Maggie's first word. The episode ends with the Simpsons all huddled on the couch together, happily reliving old memories.

Overall, Lisa's First Word is a heartwarming episode that gives viewers a glimpse into the early years of the Simpson family. It showcases the unique relationships between the siblings, as well as between the parents and their children. The episode is filled with funny moments, but it also has a poignant message about family and the importance of cherishing the moments we have together.
