In season 3 episode 8 of The Simpsons, titled "Lisa's Pony," the focus shifts to Lisa as she comes to the realization that her father, Homer, has let her down time and time again. She decides that she has to take matters into her own hands and try to prove that she can be independent and responsible. The episode opens with Lisa going to a music store to rent a saxophone, which she immediately falls in love with. However, when her dad finds out about the instrument, he tells her they can't afford to rent it and that she'll have to return it. As a result, Lisa feels like her dad is always letting her down and never keeping his promises.

Amidst Lisa's feelings of disappointment, Homer decides to make it up to her by getting her a pony. He spends all his savings on the horse, which he names Princess. Lisa is overjoyed that her father has finally done something right, but she soon realizes that taking care of a pony is a lot of work and responsibility. She has to wake up early every morning to feed Princess and even has to miss out on a sleepover with her friends because of her new responsibilities.

As the days go by, Lisa becomes more and more exhausted from taking care of the pony. At the same time, Homer becomes increasingly frustrated because he feels like she isn't appreciating the sacrifices he's made for her. Eventually, Lisa can't take it anymore and decides to run away from home with the pony. She makes her way to her grandparents' house, where she can take care of the pony in peace.

Meanwhile, Homer is left to deal with the aftermath of Lisa's disappearance. He feels guilty about letting her down yet again and becomes determined to make it up to her. He goes to great lengths to try to find her and the pony, but his efforts are in vain. Eventually, Lisa realizes that running away wasn't the answer and decides to return home.

At the end of the day, Lisa and Homer come to a better understanding of each other's feelings. Lisa realizes that her father did try to do something nice for her, even if it did come with additional responsibilities, and Homer realizes that he needs to communicate better with his daughter and try harder to keep his promises. In the end, they both learn important lessons about responsibility and the importance of family.

The episode is full of classic Simpsons humor, from Homer's attempts to impress Lisa with fancy words he doesn't understand to Bart's misguided attempts to help his sister run away from home. "Lisa's Pony" is a heartwarming episode that showcases the strong emotional bonds that the Simpson family shares.
