Bart's school bus driver, Otto, gets fired for not having a commercial driver's license and is pleasantly surprised to find out that his favorite band, the "Black Sabbath", is holding auditions for a new lead singer. Otto jumps at the chance to try out and is accepted into the band, but his fun comes to an end when Marge finds out who he is touring with and forbids Bart from attending a concert because she does not want him exposed to "images of sex, drugs, and rock and roll". Bart sneaks out anyway and ends up getting into some trouble, causing Homer and Marge to question whether or not they were too strict with him. Meanwhile, Lisa discovers her own musical talent and becomes obsessed with playing the saxophone, much to the chagrin of the family. The episode explores themes of authority, rebellion, and parental responsibility, all while incorporating the classic humor and wit that The Simpsons is known for.
