Homer struggles to find a suitable father's day gift for his demanding father, Grampa. He goes through a series of failed attempts, including a personalized mug and a matching tattoo, but ultimately decides on a valuable pocket watch that has been passed down through generations of Simpson men. However, when Grampa sees the watch, he becomes obsessed with its value and refuses to let it out of his sight. This causes tension between Homer and Grampa, as they both become increasingly possessive of the watch. Meanwhile, Lisa discovers the joys of online chess, but struggles to keep up with a more experienced opponent from India. She enlists the help of Groundskeeper Willie, who introduces her to the game's more brutal tactics. In the end, Homer and Grampa come to realize that their relationship is more valuable than any material possession, while Lisa learns to balance her competitive nature with sportsmanship.
