In the 10th episode of the 25th season of The Simpsons, titled "Married To The Blob," Homer accidentally ingests a growth hormone meant for a spider he was trying to kill. After his body starts to swell up, he becomes the object of ridicule and speculation in the town. Marge becomes concerned for his health and tries to find a cure for him, but it's ultimately up to Homer to figure out how to reverse the effects.
Meanwhile, Comic Book Guy falls in love with a Japanese manga artist named Kumiko and decides to conquer his fear of flying to go meet her in Tokyo. He finds her working at a manga cafe and manages to impress her with his knowledge of Japanese culture. They begin a whirlwind romance, but Comic Book Guy soon realizes that Kumiko is contractually obligated to stay in Japan and doubts their relationship can work long-term.
Throughout the episode, the themes of acceptance and love are explored through the various relationships of the characters. Homer's swollen appearance causes him to feel ostracized and unwanted, but Marge's unwavering support and love reminds him of what truly matters in life. Comic Book Guy's relationship with Kumiko challenges his perceptions of what he thought he wanted in a partner and teaches him to appreciate the qualities that truly matter.
